The basics
Two kinds of warranty
Workmanship warranty
This covers the installation itself. If something was not installed correctly, a workmanship warranty means the roofer comes back and makes it right. It reflects how much a roofer stands behind their own crew.
Manufacturer warranty
This comes from the company that makes the shingles or materials, and it covers defects in the product itself. The length and terms vary by manufacturer and product line.
